On March 4, 2021, Putna Monastery hosted the 25th edition of the Putna Colloquia history symposium, organized exclusively online by the monastery’s “Stephen the Great” Research and Documentation Centre.

The debates welcomed historians and researchers from Bucharest, Iași, Cluj, Sofia, Kyshinev. Among the participants were also historians members of the Putna monastic community.

The presented papers focused on various themes related to the historic past of the Putna Monastery (research on archive documents and liturgical objects from the patrimony of the monastery), to Stephen the Great’s reign (interpreting some Venice sources on the death of the prince), to the history of Moldavia in the 16th century (the political symbolism of some astronomic phenomena), to the history of religious art (presenting Romanian embroideries and liturgical veils from Romanian and foreign collections, analyzing frescoes uncovered by archaeologists) and to Romanian monasticism. One of the sections was dedicated to presentations on religious Musicology topics.
