The Comprehensible Euchologion


„The Comprehensible Euchologion” by Metropolitan Dosoftei

Holy Metropolitan Dosoftei of Moldavia printed in 1681, in Iași, the first Romanian-language Euchologion, written in Cyrillic characters and entitled “The Comprehensible Euchologion” (“Molităvnic de-nțăles”). This edition is the first Latin-alphabet transcript of his Euchologion and is published on the 400th anniversary of St Dosoftei’s birth. This critical apparatus edition represents a valuable contribution to preserving and promoting the great hierarch’s legacy.


The book is the result of cooperation between the Monumenta Linguae Dacoromanorum Biblical Study Center of the “Al.I. Cuza” University of Iași and Putna Monastery. The team of authors, coordinated by Prof. Eugen Munteanu, was made of Mădălina Ungureanu, Iosif Camară, Ana Catană-Spenchiu and Maria Moruz.
